James Francois, 42, of Monroe, was arrested around 11:53 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, after being stopped for speeding on Riverside Avenue, said Westport Police.
According to police, a Westport officer was conducting speed limit enforcement on Riverside Avenue when his radar clocked Francois' vehicle traveling northbound on Riverside Avenue above the posted limit.
After stopping Francois, the officer could detect an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath, police said.
Francois was asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests which he allegedly did not perform to standard. He refused chemical testing.
A computer check found that Francois’s driver's license was currently under suspension.
Francois was arrested and charged with speeding, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, DUI alcohol/drugs.
He was released after posting a $500 bond. Francois is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Dec. 16.
